NEW ATTITUDES

INFO: Experience installation at Empire Seven Studios, October 2016.
I had this vision of dioramas in my head, like the ones you see at natural history museums, for months. But instead of articulating the natural environment of organisms, I wanted to articulate emotions evoked by dreams, nightmares, memories, thoughts, hopes. I asked some friends if they could help me build this experience-centric piece of art. Amy Brown built the soft sculptures -think of abstract stuffed-animals, though that’s kind of a low-resolution description. Frances Marin handled the drawing and painting. And Jon Yao came in with the hard sculptures. I spent months scouring garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores to build an experience that felt like a memory - disjointed, out of focus, but emotionally strong.
